The meeting was organised via video conference, at the initiative of Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs of the French Republic Catherine Vautrin.
Gašić stated that Serbia is continuously monitoring the situation in the zone of operation, as well as that it is particularly interested in respecting all resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, as legally binding for all UN members.
Calling on all parties to end the conflict, the Minister condemned the unacceptable attacks on peacekeepers and called on UN institutions to react more decisively to threats to their security.
He emphasised that the Serbian Army remains committed to the tasks it is performing in the multinational operation UNIFIL, adding that it will coordinate its further actions and positions with the armed forces of the Kingdom of Spain and the Italian Republic, with whom it is jointly engaged on the ground.
The Serbian Army is deploying a contingent of 169 members in the multinational operation UNIFIL, who are safely and professionally performing their tasks in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
In addition to Gašić and Vautrin, the meeting was also attended by the defence ministers of Austria, Ireland and Finland, as well as representatives of the defence ministers of Italy, Poland and the Federal Republic of Germany.
