Speaking at a state commemoration marking the anniversary of the bombing of 6 April 1941, Đurđević Stamenkovski emphasised that on that day thousands of people were killed and a large number of buildings were destroyed.
The National Library was also destroyed, with the loss of hundreds of thousands of books and manuscripts, which were the testimony of our existence and culture, which is an irreparable loss, the Minister underlined.
Serbia is a country that has risen from the ashes many times, which best speaks of the character of our people, she said, adding that the task of today’s generations is to preserve freedom, peace and the state, as well as the character of a people that walks freely and loves its country.
