Serbian Minister of Trade and Services Predrag Bubalo opened last night in Novi Sad the 7th automobile exposition and voiced hopes that next year the new Opel Astra, produced in Kragujevac, will also be presented at this exposition.
Bubalo voiced belief that apart from Italy’s Fiat, Zastava car factory in Kragujevac will find one more strategic partner because the Serbian market is very favourable for the development of the automobile industry.
He recalled that the first automobile in Novi Sad appeared 115 years ago and was imported from France.
Serbia has always had strong industry, including a car industry. Every year in Serbia up to 150,000 vehicles are sold, though their average age is unsatisfactory, which is why the motor pool in Serbia should be thoroughly renewed, said Bubalo.
This year’s exposition is themed "Car Show–Novi Sad" and has gathered representatives and car dealers of the most important car manufacturers in the world. As much as 37 models will be presented at the exposition for the first time.
Manufacturers of spare parts and equipment for automobiles are also taking part in the exposition, as well as representatives of banks and leasing and insurance companies which will enable prospective buyers to fill in all the necessary forms and documents needed for purchasing cars in instalments.
