The Serbian Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija stated that the news broadcast by certain media, whose source was the Associated Press and which concerned the alleged statement by Minister Slobodan Samardzic according to which a final conference on Kosovo-Metohija’s future status will be held in late November is arbitrary and incorrect.
The Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija stressed that Minister Slobodan Samardzic has not given any exclusive statements to the Associated Press for quite a while and especially not about any conferences on the Serbian province’s status.
At the presentation of the project themed “The Kosovo Compromise“ by the 4S Institute in Brussels, and in the presence of several dozen diplomats, analysts and journalists, Samardzic stated that three negotiating meetings are planned for November and the last one may last two or three days so that the Serbian side may summarise its proposals and point out joint bases for the solution.
The Ministry stresses that talks on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija aim at reaching a compromise solution which will enable peace, stability and economic prosperity of Serbia and the entire region.
Therefore the Ministry expects understating and support of the domestic and foreign public and demands that all interested parties take a responsible approach to this issue, adds the statement.
