Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic and Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Slobodan Samardzic stated tonight in Brussels, following the second round of talks between Belgrade and Pristina, that the meeting was a good start of the negotiating process, but if it is to succeed, certain negative influences must be removed.

Jeremic said that for the first time both sides were engaged in an interactive discussion at the meeting.
We presented details of our plan on the province’s substantial autonomy and Kosovo Albanians and the troika of envoys posed a lot of questions and made various observations, added Jeremic.
Samardzic said that the talks could be a lot easier and relaxed if no time limitations were imposed.
These negative influences are artificial deadline for the talks, namely December 10, and statements of certain international actors because of which ethnic Albanians from Kosovo do not wish to negotiate, explained Samardzic and added that promises as to what will happen after December 10, that is, announcements of unilateral declaration of independence, greatly impede the negotiating process.
According to Samardzic, without these negative effects and with the mediation of the troika of envoys, Belgrade and Pristina could reach a joint solution.
Following today’s meeting in Brussels, the Contact Group’s troika of envoys announced more intensive negotiations on the status of Kosovo-Metohija, especially after the second round, scheduled for October 22 in Vienna, in order to reach a joint basis for a possible solution.
