In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Samardzic said that since the US knows that all Serbian state institutions have rejected Ahtisaari’s plan, which also failed to pass the Security Council, it is unclear how it intends to declare unilateral independence after December 10 based on that same plan.
He reiterated that Ahtisaari’s plan cannot be imposed on Serbia, who regardless of the USA’s actions solely acknowledges Resolution 1244, which guarantees Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in Kosovo-Metohija.
The US may attempt to impose Ahtisaari’s plan through the policy of force but in that case it will realise that force cannot alter Resolution 1244 and the Serbian Constitution, which means that it can never change the fact that Kosovo-Metohija is a constituent and inalienable part of Serbia, stressed Minister Samardzic.
He also said it is not good that the preparatory document of conclusions from the EU Council of Ministers states that the negotiating process on the Serbian province ends on December 10.
The international community has never before imposed time limitations on talks on complex issues in the world because that would not help anyone to reach a solution, he said.
According to Samardzic, it will thus be better if this conclusion is re-phrased to state that the troika of envoys is given full and unreserved support to conduct the negotiations without time limitations or any kind of preconditioning until a compromise solution is reached.
