Samardzic told Tanjug news agency that regardless of the fact that all participants reached an agreement and adopted a declaration on restraint from prejudicing, the US officials are persistently obstructing such agreement and are constantly giving statements on a prejudged solution.
He gave the example of Assistant to the Deputy State Secretary Rosemary di Carlo and US Ambassador to the UN Zalmay Khalilzad that Kosovo would be independent.
According to Samardzic, this encouraged representatives of Kosovo Albanians, despite talks they had in the British Foreign Office in London, to give statements that they will the proclaim province’s independence just after December 10, when the mediators are due to submit a report to the UN in the course of the current phase of negotiations.
So I ask why the declaration then, why the statements, and why the effort of the mediating troika and particularly Wolfgang Ischinger who is making a great effort to keep a normal atmosphere in negotiations, the Minister pointed out.
He noted that this is full obstruction which does not allow the process to yield results.
Despite everything, the Serbian delegation is going to Brussels prepared as always, and will participate in the talks, but will keep warning that all efforts are senseless with constant projections of the US administration that Kosovo will become independent, Samardzic concluded.
