Before his
address to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Kostunica outlined that compromise is necessary and added that Serbia is ready to amend its proposal, but that territorial integrity and soverignty cannot be subject to negotiation.
Solving the issue, and not time limits, are the important thing for Kosovo-Metohija, the Prime Minister said and reminded that much time has been lost already and that direct negotiations and confronting the arguments are only now about to begin.
He stated that Serbia’s proposal outlined last week at negotiations in New York offer the Kosovo Albanians much more, in terms of the protection of minority rights, than it has beenforseen under the Council of Europe Framework Convention on Minority Rights.
