According to a statement by the ministry, discrimination against Serb victims in Kosovo-Metohija by The Hague Tribunal, as well as by local institutions in the province was discussed.
The ministry considers that it is absolutely unacceptable that the ICTY systematically ignores and does not process the cases of Serbs kidnapped and killed in Kosovo-Metohija.
According to the data collected by the association of families, which aims to determine the facts in these cases, the number of kidnapped and killed Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija is over 2,700.
The Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija states that since 2001 until today, 830 bodies were identified and handed over from Serbia, while only 262 bodies were handed over from Kosovo-Metohija, due to which the ministry demands that the process of exhumation and identification of those gone missing in the province is accelerated and victims are treated equally.
The Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija considers that the process of establishing the fate of those kidnapped, as well as establishing responsibility in each case of kidnapping of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija, including initiating criminal charges against perpetrators is of great importance in the process of reconciliation between Serbs and Kosovo Albanians and stablisation of the situation in the southern Serbian province, and demands that all sides approach this issue in a responsible manner.
