In Vranje, Popovic attended a ceremony on the occasion of signing contracts for the project for constructing the main water supply network in Dubnica and the project for reconstruction of a local bridge. The Serbian government invested RSD 3.6 million in these projects through the Coordinating Body, and both projects were realised in the framework of the MIR Programme 2.
The municipality of Presevo was the host of the round table on encouraging economic development and entrepreneurship in Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, which was presided over by Nenad Popovic.
Others who participated in the round table were Director of the Coordinating Body Nenad Djurdjevic, President of the municipality of Presevo Ragmi Mustafa, President of the municipality of Bujanovac Nagip Arifi, representatives of the Serbian Agency for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Entrepreneurship, Public Procurement Directorate, UNDP, USAID and HELP.
We have gathered here in Presevo today because we consider that it is time to send a clear message to people in southern Serbia. Think like entrepreneurs, and the state is ready to provide favourable loans for starting businesses and take part of the risk, to provide training for entrepreneurs, as well as complete infrastructure in the form of business incubators, which proved to be a great strength in the economic development of local communities, said Popovic.
According to Popovic, the time when the government limited its role only to donations and single instances of financial help should be left behind.
He stressed that precisely due to this the decision was brought that in cooperation with international organisations and local self-governments concrete steps should be taken for founding a business incubator in Presevo.
Popovic said that he is convinced that local businesspeople, as well as future businesspeople, will recognise the multiple opportunities and support which business incubators provide to users, and will use this valuable opportunity to establish successful businesses for their own and the general welfare of local communities.
