Following talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov and Russian representative in the Contact Group Alexandar Bocan-Harchenko, Samardzic said that Moscow is willing to give maximum support to the negotiations process and to contribute to finding a solution which could be a basis for a long term agreement and lead to the future status of Kosovo-Metohija.
According to Samardzic, the two sides reached agreement that a unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo-Metohija would change a situation regulated by international law, regulated by the UN SC Resolution 1244, into uncertainty and anarchy.
Samardzic said that Belgrade reiterated its willingness in Moscow to participate in the efforts for finding a solution for maximum good, but both today and yesterday the question was raised in Brussels as to whether the Albanian side will make a partially similar effort since two sides are needed for dialogue.
Samardzic is on a one day visit on the eve of the meeting of the mediating three-member Contact Group with representatives of Serbia and Kosovo Albanians in London on September 18.
One of the main themes of today’s talks were the preparations for direct dialogue between representatives of Serbia and Kosovo-Albanians, which is scheduled to take place on September 28 in New York, in the margins of the United Nations General Assembly session.
Samardzic and Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic are to lead the Serbian delegation in separate talks to be held with the troika of envoys. The pervious round of talks was held on
August 30 in Vienna.
