Djelic said that Portugal gave technical support to new EU countries, Romania and Bulgaria, in reaching the White Schengen List, and announced that a Portuguese delegation will visit Serbia by the end of the year.
He said that Portugal’s experience is very interesting for Serbia as this country showed how it can bring benefits to its people from EU membership.
The Serbian Deputy Prime Minister also met with leading businesspeople and presented them investment opportunities in Serbia.
Earlier today, Djelic said the chief goal of
his two-day visit to Portugal is to get assurance regarding the determination of the European Commission and Portugal that for the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU to be initialled and signed by the end of 2007.
In a telephone statement to Beta news agency from Portugal, Djelic said that he will talk with Portuguese officials on bilateral economic cooperation and will try to get Portuguese investors interested in the Serbian market.
He said that it was agreed to prepare a bilateral agreement on economic cooperation and a double taxation avoidance agreement.
