Dačić signed with Slovak Minister of the Interior Matuš Šutaj Eštok the Agreement between the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic on the Joint Surveillance of the State Border of the Republic of Serbia.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Slovakia for its principled position on the most important state and national issue for Serbia, Kosovo and Metohija.
Dačić stated that Serbia, in addition to developing relations with Slovakia in the field of security, also seeks to establish good cooperation and mutual assistance in emergency situations.
According to him, climate change led to an unprecedented number of operations by the Emergency Situations Sector last year – more than 35,000 – with over 1,300 lives saved.
He added that significant results have been achieved in the fight against irregular migration, which has been virtually halted.
The agreement with Frontex, the presence of 170 police officers from the European Union and this agreement signed today will practically the work of Serbia’s organisational units, primarily the border police, and enable Slovak police officers to assist Serbia in monitoring the state border, said Dačić.
