US threat endangers Serbia’s territorial integrity

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica warned today the UN Security Council that Serbia’s territorial integrity is endangered by the threat of the US that it will recognise the independence of Kosovo-Metohija one-sidedly.

Our country is faced with a direct threat from the US that it will recognise the independence of Kosovo-Metohija in an illegal way, reads a statement by the Serbian Prime Minister.
Using a policy of force, the US threatens openly to not respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia, which is an internationally recognised state and a UN member.
In that way, the US actually says that it will violate the UN Charter and Resolution 1244 in the harshest way, the Serbian Prime Minister said.
Voicing its deepest concerns, the Serbian government expects the Security Council to take measures in line with its jurisdiction to protect Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity from the US policy of force and to secure full respect of Resolution 1244, the statement adds.
