Kostunica recalled that during the first meeting held in Vienna the Serbian delegation presented new convincing arguments for substantial autonomy as the best solution for the future regulation of the province of Kosovo-Metohija.
The Serbian Prime Minister warned that on the other hand, Albanian separatists daily announce that by the end of the year they will unilaterally declare independence on the basis of the plan presented by Martti Ahtisaari.
He stressed that Serbia demands that the international community immediately and in advance reject and condemn any act of unilateral declaration of independence, since only the Security Council has the mandate to bring a decision regarding the future status of the province.
Kostunica said that any state which would dare to recognise unilaterally the declared independence for the province will be responsible for brutally disregarding Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and insulting the authority of the Security Council and the UN itself.
The Serbian Prime Minister acquainted the EU representative in the troika of envoys with the fact that Serbia will declare any illegitimate act of unilateral declaration of independence null and void, and in keeping with the UN Charter and the Serbian Constitution Kosovo-Metohija will always be an integral and inalienable part of Serbian territory.
Ischinger stressed that an important goal of the troika of envoys is to reach a solution based on compromise which could get approval by the Security Council.
He announced that talks will be continued and stressed that the troika of envoys agrees that the main subject of upcoming talks should be the future status of the province.
