Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica pointed out today in a meeting with a delegation of the Serbian Academy of Science and Arts (SANU) led by its president Nikola Hajdin that it is of extreme importance that SANU supports state policy on Kosovo-Metohija status resolution.
Kostunica presented the SANU delegation with the negotiating process so far and emphasised that thanks to its joint policy with the Russian Federation Serbia has managed to remove for good the danger of the UN Security Council’s adoption of a new resolution that would be the basis for declaration of the province’s independence.
The Serbian Prime Minister said that there is a realistic danger that Albanian separatists will unilaterally proclaim independence by the end of the year and that the international community must immdiately and in advance reject such an act as void and illegal.
Kostunica expressed satisfaction with the overall good cooperation with SANU and showed the government’s full readiness to support SANU’s projects and activities.
SANU representatives asked for support for speedier adoption of the law on SANU.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Science Ana Pesikan.
