Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus met today with Austrian Vice-Chancellor and Minister for Transport, Innovation, and Technology Hubert Gorbach to discuss further participation of Austrian firms in the restructuring and privatisation of Serbian infrastructure enterprises, including telecommunication firms, as well as the country’s cadastre system.
Labus said following the meeting that Austria is interested in investment and privatisation in all infrastructure projects and added that it is in the interest of Serbia for that cooperation with Austria to continue. He confirmed that he agreed with Gorbach on the continuation of direct contacts with the aim to improve cooperation between Serbia and Austria.
Gorbach said that Austrian firms take up leading positions in the world’s market when it comes to technology and railway infrastructure, which he said will facilitate future cooperation. He also recalled that trade between Serbia and Austria has nearly doubled over the past three years, with more than 140 Austrian firm opening their outlets in Serbia.
Gorbach stressed that a large number of Austrian firms have expressed interest in investing in Serbia, and that the Austrian government will support them. Austria will also support Serbia’s association with the European Union, according to Gorbach.
