Kostunica hosts reception for Serbian basketball players

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica hosted last night a reception for young basketball players medal winners at international and European competitions as well as for the senior basketball national team that will play at the forthcoming European Basketball Championships in Spain.
Kostunica expressed hope that the senior basketball team of Serbia will stand on the winners’ podium at the European Championship in Spain.
Our hope is that this team continues to pick up medals in Spain, Kostunica said.
He recalled that the Serbian government decided two years ago to invest more in top sports and grant life-time prizes for the best sportsmen and sportswomen.
It is a great satisfaction to see what we have gained return, Kostunica said and presented the captain of the senior team Milan Gurovic the state flag which the team will take to Spain.
The reception was attended by famous basketball players as well as Serbian government ministers.
