Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met today with Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxime Verhagen and warned that announcements of Kosovo Albanians that they will unilaterally declare independence of Kosovo-Metohija by the end of the year are very dangerous.
Kostunica stressed that the international community must immediately react to this realistic danger and send a clear message that any unilateral proclamation of independence would be an illegal, illegitimate and void act.
The Serbian Prime Minister pointed out that it is of utmost importance to come up with a compromise and sustainable solution for Kosovo-Metohija based on respect of international law and the UN Charter and stressed that Serbia is ready to take its part of responsibility and to actively participate in that process.
The Dutch Foreign Minister also supported a sustainable and compromise solution between Belgrade and Pristina which would be within the framework of international law and the UN Security Council.
