Kostunica, Tadic co-presidents of state negotiating team

Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Slobodan Samardzic said today that Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and Serbian President Boris Tadic will be co-presidents of the new Serbian team for negotiations on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija.

In a statement to the news agency Tanjug, Samardzic said that today besides the state negotiating team, a delegation was also formed which will meet with the troika of envoys in Vienna on August 30.
According to Samardzic, Tadic and Kostunica reached agreement in Belgrade that Belgrade should be represented by a political delegation at the meeting in Vienna, to be led by the Minister for Kosovo-Metohija. The delegation will also include Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic.
Samardzic, who will lead the negotiating team, said that the government as a whole will be represented in the delegation. He added that individual members of the Serbian government will participate in each concrete meeting.
Occasionally experts from different areas will work with the negotiating team, said the Minister, and added that this is the model according to which the negotiating team will work in response to various needs.
Considering the fact that this is the first step, we have decided that the consultative meeting to be held in Vienna will be attended by a political delegation consisting of the Minister for Kosovo-Metohija and the Foreign Minister, who will take part in preliminary talks and consultations with the troika of envoys, said Samardzic.
