While visiting the Banjska monastery, Prorokovic said Serbia is leading a constructive policy which is in line with international law, does not threaten anyone with ethnic cleansing and violence and has influential and respectable allies worldwide.
He announced that a state team for talks on the province’s future should soon be set up and explained that more will be known on this matter once the framework for negotiations is defined.
According to Prorokovic, a number of open issues remain since it is unknown how often the negotiators will meet and where and which form the talks will take.
Speaking about the statement of Kfor Chief Rowland Cutter that there might be an escalation of violence in the province, Prorokovic pointed out that it is Kfor’s duty to ensure peace and normal functioning of the system.
If Kfor has any knowledge as to what might happen in places inhabited by Serbs, then it must react, or at least share the information with UNMIK police so that it might take the necessary pre-emptive measures, stressed Prorokovic.
The State Secretary said if Kfor has information on any possible outbreak of violence it is much easier to react now than later once an outburst of dissatisfaction has already taken place.
