In a statement to the news agency Beta, Prorokovic said that such terrorist acts should be investigated as soon as possible and those responsible brought to justice.
The burning of the house in the village of Svinjare formerly inhabited by Serbs, and abandoned today, is an act of terrorism which aims to discourage Serbs and other non Albanian population from returning to their homes in Kosovo-Metohija, said Prorokovic.
He recalled that the burning of the house in Svinjare, following the physical violence inflicted on a Serb in Vucitrn, is the second serious incident in the northern part of Kosovo-Metohija during the previous month.
Burning the property of Serbs must be punished, and not ignored as in previous cases. Those responsible must be punished to put an end to incidents such as this one, said Prorokovic.
According to Prorokovic, the UNMIK must take responsibility for such incidents to finally prove that it is playing the role it was entrusted with through UN SB Resolution 1244.
The house of Djordje Tanic in Svinjare, near Kosovska Mitrovica, was burnt today at around ten in the morning.
Spokesperson of the Kosovo Police Service Besim Hota stated for the news agency Tanjug that there was no one in the house when it was burnt and the police and fire fighters are on the crime scene. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
There were 140 Serb houses in the village of Svinjare until the violence in March 2004. Most of these houses were burnt, and their residents were evacuated as Albanian extremists advanced.
A few of the houses were rebuilt, but only one Serb family has returned to the village since then.
