Serbia ready to compromise and make speedy agreement with Kosovo ethnic Albanians

Serbian State Secretary for Kosovo-Metohija Dusan Prorokovic said in an interview for today’s edition of the Blic daily that Serbia is ready to compromise and a speedy agreement with ethnic Albanians from Kosovo-Metohija regarding the province’s future status.

According to Prorokovic, the level of compromise will depend on the very course of negotiations and ethnic Albanians’ stance, which is why Serbia wishes to hear what level of compromise they would agree to as soon as possible.
Prorokovic said that as for the Serbian government, this level is Serbia’s sovereignty on the territory of Kosovo-Metohija.
We are offering ethnic Albanians the opportunity to influence the economic and business development in the province, in which process they will have Serbia’s wholehearted assistance, and the possibility to manage their own resources and their internal organisation, said Prorokovic.
He stressed that ethnic Albanians in the province may also have the right to individual representation in certain sports and cultural organisations, like the Faroe Islands have within Denmark or Scotland within Great Britain.
It would be an internationally guaranteed autonomy which no one in the region enjoys. However, there is a limit to our compromise and that is the framework for the talks – Serbia’s territorial sovereignty and integrity in the entire territory of Kosovo-Metohija, emphasised Prorokovic and added that this is the minimum below which Serbia will not go in the course of the talks with ethnic Albanians.
