At today's session, the government members adopted bills on amendments to the Law on the organisation of courts, the Law on judges and the Law on the organisation and jurisdiction of state organs in the fight against organised crime. These amendments were forwarded to the Serbian parliament for urgent examination.
The amendments to the Law on the organisation of courts set new deadlines for reaching the decision on the number of judges and assistant judges in the courts of appeal and the Administrative Court. The current law stipulates that the courts of appeal and the Administrative Court start with the work on January 1, 2004.
The Serbian government adopted the Decree on the formation of the Office for the European Union (EU) Accession, which will be responsible for drafting strategies and initiating, monitoring and coordinating the harmonisation of Serbia's regulations with that of the EU.
The Serbian government relieved of office director of Security and Intelligence Agency (BIA) Misa Milicevic and his deputy Goran Zivaljevic, and appointed Rade Bulatovic new director. Director of the Tax Administration Office Marija Drca-Ugren was relieved of duty and Vladimir Ilic was appointed new director. Director of the Health Insurance Bureau Mijat Savic was relieved of office and Svetlana Vukojevic was appointed new director.
Srdjan Djuric was appointed head of the Office for Media Relations and Nikola Marjanovic director of the Serbian Water Directorate at today's session.
Lastly, the Serbian government appointed the deputy ministers of finance, justice, public administration and local self-government, economy, health, and Diaspora. It also appointed two deputy ministers of culture, two deputy ministers of trade, tourism and services, and three deputy ministers of capital investment.
Former assistant ministers and secretaries of ministries were relived of office and new ones appointed.
