Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today during the talks with President of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge that sport has an important place in Serbia and that Serbia is known for its excellent athletes.
Kostunica said that the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), which is being held in Belgrade and which has 49 participating countries, is a chance for spreading the Olympic spirit and friendship among the young.
He said that the Serbian government offered full support to preparations and organisation of the European Youth Olympic Festival and underlined that the Festival is important for affirmation of Serbia and its sport.
Rogge thanked the Serbian government for the assistance in the organisation of EYOF, which started to be held in 1991. He said that Belgrade is an excellent host.
