Kostunica said in a statement to the press that he is satisfied with state and national unity as well as with the fact that Martti Ahtisaari’s plan to take away 15% of Serbia’s territory saw a fiasco.
The Serbian Prime Minister said that Serbia replied to objections that "it does not know what it wants, and what it does not want", with the proposal on substantial autonomy for Kosovo, which some did not want to understand.
He welcomed the adoption of the report of the State negotiating team and the fact that the new Resolution was adopted by great parliamentary majority.
Kostunica said that this is an important moment which proved once more that Serbia want its constitution to be respected, as well as the UN Charter and the principle of inviolability of integrity and sovereignty of states.
He said that any future proposal for the resolution of the province's status has to be made under the mandate of the UN Security Council.
