International community leans towards continuation of negotiations on Kosovo-Metohija

Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Slobodan Samardzic said today that there are signs that the international community is generally willing that negotiations regarding the future status of Kosovo-Metohija are continued since all countries relevant to resolving this issue support that position.

In a statement to today’s edition of the daily “Danas”, Samardzic stressed that above all consultations should be held with all sides involved in order to determine conditions for continuing negotiations, and added that the procedure, mediator, aim of negotiations and other details must be established in advance so that negotiations are successful.
He said that in the negotiations held so far that was not the case and unrealistic deadlines were set which did not contribute to progress in negotiations, and warned that Belgrade will not agree to any new negotiations led by UN Special Envoy Marti Ahtisaari.
