In a statement to the Radio Television of Serbia, Samardzic said that Bush and Putin concluded that they should work towards some kind of agreement, so that Europe, the Balkans and Serbia could regulate these matters more easily, and real negotiations for finding a solution for the Kosovo-Metohija problem could begin.
According to Samardzic, the EU will wait for this agreement and for common ideas, and then join in the process.
Samardzic said that Bush and Putin did not give statements regarding Kosovo-Metohija, in order not to express their differences since they have the good will to work to resolve them.
Commenting on the news that the Contact Group without Russia is considering beginning consultations on Kosovo-Metohija without UN Special Envoy Marti Ahtisaari, the Minister said that it is a good sign that better solutions are being looked for, as well as better mediators and better procedures for resolving the Kosovo-Metohija issue.
