In a statement to the news agency Tanjug, he said that the negotiating team will present a report to Serbian parliament, and parliament must adopt a new resolution in order to determine further steps in conducting the policy for resolving the Kosovo-Metohija issue.
He stressed that the Serbian government will insist on beginning a new negotiation process which would be conducted exclusively under the mandate of the UN Security Council, with a new international mediator, and most importantly, without any conditions or limitations.
The international rules are clear and must be equally valid for each country. Serbia cannot be an exception and cannot be the only country in the world whose borders can be changed and whose territory can be seized, stressed the Serbian Prime Minister.
Kostunica warned that that would a dangerous precedent which could jeopardise peace and stability not just in the region, but have consequences for the entire international order.
That is why Serbia insists upon the demand that a solution based on compromise, in accordance with the UN Charter and the Serbian Constitution be found through new negotiations.
