Bush-Putin meeting brings opportunity to open a new page in search of solution to Kosovo-Metohija future status

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica stated today that the forthcoming meeting of US President George Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin is an important opportunity to reconsider the Kosovo issue solving process so far and to open a new page in searching for a solution to the province’s future status.

Kostunica said in a statement with Beta news agency that Serbia expects that the two presidents focus on the solving of the Kosovo-Metohija issue through new negotiations whose aim would be to reach a compromise solution that is acceptable to both sides, in accordance with crucial principles of international law.
He said that Serbia shows full readiness to get to new negotiations and take its part of responsibility so as to reach an agreed-on and long-lasting sustainable solution as only such solution can guarantee stability for the whole region.
Bush and Putin will meet tomorrow and one of the topics of the two-day summit will be the future status of Kosovo-Metohija.
