Serbia can expect favourable result of Bush, Putin meeting

Advisor to the Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Simic said today that Serbia can expect that the meeting between Russian President Putin and US President Bush will produce a favourable result.
In a statement to the news agency Beta, Simic expressed the conviction that a realistic approach to the situation must be accepted, according to which there can be no solution for the Kosovo-Metohija issue without the agreement of all sides.
I think that the US will be realistic and will convince the Kosovo Albanians to negotiate, said Simic.
According to Simic, the meeting between Bush and Putin in Maine will be devoted to wider Russia-US relations, which are entering a special phase.
It is certain that the issue of respecting the territorial integrity of Serbia is one of the most important questions through which Russia is returning in a serious manner to the political scene of Europe which it was distanced from after the USSR fell apart, said Simic.
He said that Russia owing to the principled stand taken by Serbia got a chance to become an important and respectable partner in the European issue.
