Sutanovac said at the ceremony held at the barracks of the 1st infantry regiment Knjaz Milos Veliki that today the organisational changes in the Serbian Army which began 13 months ago, are finished.
He explained that the organisational changes are just part of the reform process which needs to be continued in the future, adding that it is necessary to adopt several laws connected to the entire defence system.
The Minister stressed that a lot of work awaits us in that segment, regarding the Ministry of Defence, the Serbian government and Serbian parliament who will by doing that work give the Serbian Army the glory it deserves.
Wishing the members of the Serbian armed forces that they never have to engage in war, Sutanovac said that it is their duty to represent the state in the right way and contribute to Serbia’s good reputation by taking part in peace operations in the world.
Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Army Lieutenant-General Zdravko Ponos said that the 4rth brigade of the ground force is based in Vranje, Leskovac and Bujanovac, stressing that its main task is the security of the administrative border and control of the security zone towards Kosovo-Metohija.
He expressed satisfaction with the successful work done in the previous period and added that owing to the professionalism of members of the brigade cooperation with the Kfor is constantly improving, as well as with civil establishments, regardless of ethnic origin.
Ponos said that soon the office for civil-military cooperation will be opened in Vranje, and special attention will be dedicated to creating even better relations with ethnic-Albanians living in the area.
The ceremony was attended by foreign military envoys in Belgrade and commandants of the operative forces of the Serbian Army, and members of the newly formed brigade held a display of tactical and technical skills.
