The liturgy was served by Serbian Patriarch Pavle’s envoy Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Amfilohije, Bishop of Raska and Prizren Artemije and Bishop of Lipljan Teodosije.
The St Vitus’ Day ceremony ended today with the distribution of the “Majka Devet Jugovica” (Mother of Nine Jugovic Brothers) awards to Serbian families in Kosovo-Metohija with several children.
Mothers who have four or more children were given medals and monetary help worth €100. These awards were received by 34 women from the territory of Rasko-Prizrenska Eparchy.
Samardzic said on the occasion that Kosovo-Metohija will never be independent of Serbia and that the state will return to Kosovo-Metohija as it was since this is its obligation.
According to Samardzic, the situation is difficult but the state is under obligation to help, it will do more and better, organise investments and invest to create more employment in Kosovo-Metohija.
He said that the state must think of the newly-born children growing up in the southern Serbian province that will need jobs one day, and added that all efforts will be made to establish Kosovo-Metohija as an integral part of Serbia.
Samardzic said that Serbia will be ever more present in Kosovo-Metohija, and it is particularly important that there are as many Serbs in the province as possible; therefore it is necessary to create conditions so that the internally displaced are able to return.
Bishop of Raska and Prizren Artemije expressed thanks for the help provided by the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija.
Princess Katarina Karadjordjevic secured humanitarian aid for Gracanica which was handed over to the NGO "Majka Devet Jugovica" (Mother of Nine Jugovic Brothers).
