It is well known that Belgrade's initiative is based on the platform that includes preservation of Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity and wide ranging autonomy for Kosovo.
Since the Vienna talks did not produce any results and they failed because of the way they were conducted, because of the principles and procedures used and the attitude of the main negotiator, we believe that it is necessary to find another way of negotiating, Samardzic said.
He reiterated that Serbia will declare any decision on one-sided recognition of Kosovo's independence as null and void. In that case, the state and state bodies will act in line with the Serbian Constitution.
Samardzic said that the aim of his first visit to Kosovo-Metohija since he became the minister is to tell the Serbs who remained in the province that the Ministry will do everything to secure Serbia's presence there.
We want to secure conditions for the return of Serbs and to make a good organisational network whose nucleus will be the Office of the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija and of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija, whose seat will be in northern Kosovska Mitrovica.
To that end, the Office was opened today in the largest returnee village in Metohija - Osojane and a cornerstone was laid for a new community centre.
