In a statement to the news agency Tanjug, Loncar stressed that it is the government’s obligation to preserve Kosovo-Metohija as an integral and unalienable part of Serbia, and recalled that the oath taken by members of the Serbian government includes the obligation to safeguard that 15% of Serbian territory.
Regarding the statement given by US President George Bush that Kosovo-Metohija should be independent, he stressed that resolving the issue of Kosovo falls under the jurisdiction of the UN and the Security Council, despite different stands taken by certain countries.
I believe that the Security Council will respect the UN Charter as the foundation of global order, the Resolution 1244, as well as the decrees of the Constitution of Serbia, which is a democratic country and holds full UN membership.
