The memorandum stipulates that out of Russia’s $288.8 million debt to Serbia, $188.3 million will be used to settle 77 percent of the total debt made by Serbia’s state-owned oil company NIS to Russia’s energy company Gazprom for the natural gas delivered between 1994 and 2000, which amounted to $243.2 million. The remaining $55 million that NIS owes to Gazprom will be rescheduled for eight years and will be reinvested in constructing the storing facilities for natural gas in Banatski Dvor and gas line network in Vojvodina and Southern Serbia.
The remaining $100.5 million of Serbia’s claims will be used to rebuild the Djerdap I hydroelectric plant as well as to construct an accelerator station in the Vinca institute.
The Serbian government also adopted an Information on the agreement reached with the London Club of Creditors on writing off and rescheduling the debts of the Republic of Serbia. The clearance of the debt to the London Club of Creditors opens the door to international financial market for Serbia and its economy.
The government set a bill on protecting the population from contagious diseases and sent it to the parliament for urgent adoption.
The bill on electronic signature was also sent to the Serbian parliament for adoption.
The government adopted an Information regarding the engagement of the Bank Rehabilitation Agency in the purchase of the unplayable claims from banks whose state-owned shares are being sold.
The government established the manner of conducting the negotiations of the Serbia-Montenegrin delegation at the session of the Joint Commission for Road Transport with the Romanian delegation, which is scheduled to take place in Belgrade on July 8 and 9.
The government adopted a decree amending the decree on conditions, criteria and elements for lump sum taxation of self-employed taxpayers.
The government approved the programme of work of the National Employment Service for 2004 and adopted a resolution on raising the basis for calculating the salaries of employees financed from public revenues.
The government will send an audio recording of the March 12, 2003 session to the parliament’s defence and security board.
