At a joint press conference, Jeremic said that his Bulgarian counterpart assured him that Sofia will support the re-opening of talks on the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU.
As for the regional issue of Kosovo-Metohija, Jeremic reiterated that the Serbian policy towards the resolution of this issue remains unchanged and emphasised that any kind of independence of the southern Serbian province is unacceptable to Belgrade.
The Minister pointed out that a lasting, sustainable and stable solution for Kosovo-Metohija’s future status can be reached through a patient dialogue, adding that the Serbian side hopes that the negotiations, either direct or indirect, will continue.
Kalfin said that by resuming the talks on the SAA, the EU would show it strongly supports the new Serbian government.
Both Bulgaria, as Serbia’s neighbour, and the EU should strongly endorse the new Serbian government and the re-opening of talks would be a sign of support, explained Kalfin and added that Serbia’s clear European perspective would thus be obvious.
The collocutors agreed that the relations between the two countries are satisfactory, but that they could still be improved.
