Serbian government will not propose declaration of emergency

Head of the Serbian government’s Office of Media Relations Srdjan Djuric said last night that the Serbian government will not propose to Serbian parliament to declare a state of emergency.

Commenting on a statement by Serbian parliament speaker Tomislav Nikolic that new elections in Serbia could be postponed if Serbian parliament, at the recommendation of the Serbian government, declares a state of emergency due to the assessment that the situation regarding the resolution of the Kosovo-Metohija issue is exceptionally difficult, Djuric said for the Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) that the Serbian government is not considering such an option.
The Serbian government’s policy on Kosovo-Metohija has clear support from Russia in the UN Security Council, where a new resolution is currently under discussion, said Djuric.
Djruic stressed that it is of great importance for Serbia that Russia, in the Security Council, is advocating the stand that the new resolution must affirm the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia.
