Following two hours of telephone conversations with citizens, Stojkovic said that it is necessary to raise the level of responsibility of court presidents in regulating the courts and monitoring the duration of procedures, while certain cases involving corruption should be dealt with.
The Minister of Justice reiterated that most often citizens suspect the judiciary of being corrupt due to inefficiency and inexpert work, and said that a certain number of complaints by the citizens concerned lengthy court procedures, and particularly the delays in law suits involving child custody, which according to the law should have priority.
Considering the fact that the legal regulative in this area is clear and precise especially following latest amendments, obviously a problem exists in implementation of law and there are judges who do not respect recommended deadlines, resulting in lengthy court procedures, said Stojkovic, and added that a large number of complaints by citizens were also about the work of certain judges in particular lawsuits.
