Disputed provisions of readmission agreement to be discussed next week

Director of the Serbian government's EU Integration Office Tanja Miscevic said today that negotiating teams of Serbia and the European Commission will discuss the disputed provisions of the agreement on readmission next week.

Miscevic said during the break of an international conference called "Management reforms and cooperation of south east Europe capitals" that provisions regarding the admission of citizens of the third countries who illegally entered the EU through Serbia will be specified.
Due to these provisions, the initialling of the agreements on visa relaxations and readmission in Brussels at the negotiations held on April 11 was postponed.
Miscevic explained that postponement of the initialling will not disturb the preparation procedure for the signing of these documents and their coming into force.
On March 20, the European Commission and the Serbian government delegation reached an agreement on providing free EU visas for certain categories of Serbian citizens. The agreement should come into force on January 1, 2008.
