Bjelica said on the occasion that the software “Sena” and equipment for automatic handling of data were secured with the help of the European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR) which provided Serbian judiciary funds worth nearly €8 million for the purpose.
He pointed out that Nis is the second centre in Serbia, following Sremska Mitrovica, where electronic monitoring and automatic case handling has begun. He added that this system will also be established in all courts of general jurisdiction by the end of the year.
Bjelica said that commercial courts, as well as the department for organised crime and war crimes will work according to special programmes and added that a one year period will be needed for courts to adapt completely to the new system, which is also the period for which a double system for handling cases will be valid.
EAR representative Bogdan Turudija said that since 2001 the EAR approved nearly €50 million to the judicial system in Serbia and the Serbian Ministry of Interior.
