Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica voiced belief that Russia’s principled support in the UN Security Council will help Serbia to preserve its territorial unity and sovereignty.

“Our entire people know and sincerely feel that Russia’s endorsement is of historical importance for Serbia”, said Kostunica prior to his leaving for New York, where at the UN Security Council session scheduled for April 3 he is to expound Serbia’s stance on Kosovo-Metohija’s future organisation.
He said it is quite clear that Ahtisaari’s plan will fail to pass the Security Council, being as it is an illegitimate and illegal document whose purpose is the dismemberment of Serbia.
The rejection of Ahtisaari’s plan will enable the beginning of a new negotiating process with a new international mediator, which will in turn result in a compromise solution in line with the UN Charter and the Serbian Consitution, said the Prime Minister in a statement to the press.
Kostunica is to travel to New York this afternoon as decided by the state negotiating team for talks on Kosovo-Metohija’s future status
at the session held on March 30.
Also travelling to New York today are the team coordinator Slobodan Samardzic and Prime Minister’s foreign policy advisor Vladeta Jankovic.
