Mortal remains of five Serbs and non-Albanians, who were kidnapped in Kosovo-Metohija and then killed by ethnic Albanian terrorists in 1999 and 2000, were handed over today at the Merdare administrative border to their families.
Representatives of the Serbian government's Commission for Missing Persons handed over bodies of Ljubomir Vrcelj (1960), Mladenka Vrcelj (1966), Radmila Bogicevic (1931), Dusan Bogicevic (1935) and Cizmelji Dzemalj (1952) to their families.
The identification of the bodies was carried out through the DNA method at the laboratory of the International commission for missing persons in Tuzla.
Apart from representatives of the Commission for Missing Persons, Director of the Service for Human and Minority Rights Petar Ladjevic, representatives of the Association of Missing Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija and family members were also present at the event.
According to data of the Commission for Missing Persons, 250 bodies have been exhumed and identified so far and handed over to their families, while the whereabouts of several hundred persons of Serb and non-Albanian nationalities are still unknown.
