Serbian Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo officially opened the 45th International Automobile Fair at Belgrade Fairgrounds last night and said that the Ministry endorsed the initiative to declare 2007 the year of quality in automobile industry.

Bubalo explained that this will enable co-financing of the introduction of indispensable standards to help domestic automobile manufacturers get to international markets as soon as possible, adding that Serbian companies will thus be placed on the list of automobile suppliers of famous international manufacturers.
He also said that Serbia needs a modern industry competitive on the international market and one of the preconditions for achieving this is the creation of a Serbian automobile cluster, whose establishing was supported by the Ministry of Economy.
The Minister recalled that through its subsidy programme the state maintained the production process at the Kragujevac-based automobile producer “Zastava Automobili”, and added that it is expected that
the production of “Zastava 10” begins in Kragujevac in June according to the licence of Italy’s Fiat.
This year’s fair will be held until April 1 and 620 exhibitors from 32 countries will be presented.
As many as 67 national premiers of new automobile models will be held immediately after their world premier in Geneva. Manufacturers of passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, automobile parts and equipment will be presented at the fair.
