Serbian Minister of Justice Zoran Stojkovic visited the District Court in Sremska Mitrovica today where he put into operation the programme for automated case management system (CMS) and said that judicial organs have thus made a step towards the public.
Stojkovic said that this year CMS will be put into operation in 14 towns in Serbia.
Citizens will be able to find out how far their cases were processed at any given point in time, said the Minister and added that court employees are undergoing training to be able to use this new programme.
He also said that this new technical solution will help decrease corruption in the judiciary since the programme will automatically allocate cases to judges.
Head of the European Agency for Reconstruction's (EAR) office in Serbia Daniel Giuglaris said that the software for the Serbian judiciary is free of charge, adding that once it is introduced in all courts, further modernisation of the judicial system will be enabled.
The introduction of the new software is part of the project to modernise the judiciary, implemented by the Ministry of Justice and the EAR.
Modernisation of courts began in 2003 and so far around €7.3 million has been invested in it.
