Serbian Assistant Minister of Energy and Mining Slobodan Sokolovic announced today that Russian company Gazpromneft has shown interest in privatisation of Serbian oil maker Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS).
Sokolovic told agency Tanjug that a delegation of Gazpromneft met today with representatives of the Ministry and received information on NIS in order to make a decision on participation in the tender.
According to him, representatives of Gazpromneft will visit NIS refineries and storehouses and speak with NIS staff whereas other oil companies, such as MOL, OMV, Lukoil, Hellenic Petroleum, Rompetrol and KMP, are also interested in NIS.
On January 12, 2006 the Serbian government appointed Merrill Lynch-Raiffeisen Investment to be NIS privatisation advisor. Merrill Lynch-Raiffeisen Investment offered a clear
concept on the form, way and method of privatisation of NIS.
