The statement says that the exhibition will be held under the auspices of the Serbian government and the EU Integration Office. It also adds that this will be the first time that artistic work from Serbia is presented at EU institutions.
At the European Commission's exhibition space 40 artists from Kovacica and other parts of Serbia will present themselves with over 70 paintings until March 7.
Web presentation with data on the painters, their work and the exhibition has also been designed.
In the introductory section of the exhibition's catalogue, Director of the EU Integration Office Tanja Miscevic said the exhibition has two goals, the first being to present Serbia's cultural heritage and its distinctiveness, thus representing and bringing Serbia and its artists closer to the European citizens.
Miscevic said that the second important intention was to note the place, significance and role of Serbian art in its rapprochement to the European Union.
Also attending the opening will be Head of the Serbian Mission in EU Roksanda Nicic, founder of the Babka Gallery Pavel Babka, artists from Kovacica, officials from European institutions, the diplomatic corps and numerous media representatives.
