A:

Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe adopts resolution on Kosovo without proposal for independence

Belgrade/Strasbourg, 24 January 2007

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted at its afternoon session a resolution on the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, based on a report by Lord Russell-Johnston.

The resolution was adopted with 116 votes in favour, 20 against and 15 abstentions.

The resolution adopted does not include the proposal by Lord Russell-Johnston for independence of Kosovo-Metohija as a solution for the future status of the province, which represents the diplomatic success of the Serbian delegation headed by Milos Aligrudic.
