Strazevica tunnel dug

Belgrade, 17 January 2007

Strazevica Tunnel has been dug in the Belgrade municipality of Rakovica. The tunnel measures 745 metres in length and is situated at the ring road around Belgrade, on the road from Bubanj Potok to Dobanovci. The blasting of the tunnel was attended by Serbian Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic and Minister of International Economic Relations Milan Parivodic on behalf of Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica.

Parivodic told reporters that the tunnel and the ring road around Belgrade are situated on Corridor 10 which is very important. The construction of the ring road around Belgrade will contribute to the linking of Europe with the Middle East and much lighter traffic in Belgrade.

Ilic said that the tunnel and the ring road have been built partly with the funds from a foreign loan and partly with funds from the National Investment Plan. He said that Strazevica tunnel is the second tunnel in Serbia to be dug after 15 years.
