Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today during a meeting with Slovak Foreign Minister Jan Kubis that a solution for Kosovo-Metohija must be based on the respect for international law and the UN Charter and its basic principle of inviolability of sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
Kostunica said that Serbia is ready to provide substantial autonomy for Kosovo-Metohija within the borders of Serbia, highlighting that that is the only just solution in line with European standards.
The Serbian Prime Minister warned that Kosovo-Metohija must not be regarded as a unique case, and stressed that any attempt at violating the basic principles of international law could have huge and unforeseeable consequences not just for the region, but on a wider level.
Kostunica and Kubis jointly stated that Serbia and Slovakia have excellent bilateral relations, and stressed that it is very important to improve economic cooperation between the two countries.
